May 1, 2006

My Dearest Hailey,
Today you are 2 months old. You were born in march 1, 2006 at 3:31 pm. Mommy's doctor decided to induce labor because you big sister Ashlynn was so big. you weighed 8 lbs 6 oz. and was 19 inches long, and so very beautiful. Just like the day, you were bright and warm.
We got a call at 6:19 am, asking if we were ready to come in and have a baby. Of course we were! We called your Aunt Jana and told her to come over so that she could be with Ashlynn, who was SO excited for you to be on your way.
We arrived at the hospital at 7:30 in the morning. We were checked in at the nurses station and into a room. The nurses came in and hooked an IV up to my arm. Because Mommy had the bacteria strep, they couldn't break my water just yet but they did give me a very low dose of pitosin to help start contractions. With in a few hours the contractions were pretty strong So Dr. Chandler came in and gave me an epidural. He couldn't find the right spot and had to scoot the needle around. your Daddy, who was holding me up, got all red and sweaty and just about passed out. The nurse pushed him into a chair and took his spot! once I had the epidural in me I layed back and let it kick in. The pain of the contractions were gone! They soon gave me another dose of penicillin and I fell asleep.
The nurses came in a while later and broke my water. After that things moved pretty fast. When Dr. Tracy Winward came in she got suited up and told me to start pushing with the next contraction. In one contraction I pushed 2 times. It took me four contractions and you were here in this world! Daddy was so excited, he got to watch the whole thing.
How beautiful you were! They put you up on my chest and you were so red and cute. They took you away to weigh you, then brought you back over for me to hold. Daddy called Aunt Jana and Ashlynn and told them to come in. They had been waiting in the waiting room for about 10 min.
your big sister thought you were so cute. She climbed up into my lap and couldn't stop staring at you. When the nurses came in to see how you were doing, Ashlynn got mad and told them to leave her baby alone. Ashlynn only got to stay for about an hour because we got moved up to the 4th floor where no one under the age of 14 could come up.
The days in the hospital went smoothly but slowly. We couldn't wait to take you home and start our life with you in our family. When we got home Ashlynn and Aunt Jana were there and I cried. Ashlynn seemed to have grown over night. She looked so big next to you. You were so tiny.
Well little monkey, we love you so much. You are such a good baby. You sleep all day long and all night and I keep wondering when your ever going to wake up and play with us! We love you so much and are so glad that you're in our family. Love, Mommy
